Works underway on Stuart Highway duplication

RA member BMD Group is improving the safety and resilience of transport infrastructure in the Northern Territory as it works to deliver the extension and duplication of the Stuart Highway in Katherine.

Works are now underway to extend and duplicate the critical road link from 200 metres before Cyprus Road to 300 metres past Uralla Road in Katherine East. This will mean the existing two-lane highway is upgraded to four-lanes, extending the existing duplication from the Katherine CBD southbound.

In addition to the duplication, a new link road intersection positioned between Cyprus Street and Uralla Road will be constructed, Uralla Road intersection will be realigned and safety upgrades applied to the Cyprus Street intersection.

The works are expected to be completed later in 2022.
