Key WA project recognised for excellence

The Armadale Access Alliance (AAA) comprising RA members Laing O’Rourke, Main Roads Western Australia and BG&E has been awarded with prizes in two categories at the Master Builders-Bankwest Excellence in Construction Awards.
The Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge project took the prize in both the Best Civil Engineering Works Over $100,000,000 and the Construction on a Challenging Site categories.
The project saw the AAA team design and construct a new bridge over the Kwinana Freeway, connecting Armadale Road and North Lake Road, including new on/off freeway ramps, the reconfiguration of local roads with roundabouts to maintain connectivity and capaicty-enhancing upgrades to other existing road infrastructure.
The project was delivered over two years and undertaken on a section of Armadale Road that is used by around 50,000 vehicles each day.
