Kinetic joins Transport Australia

Transport Australia has welcomed Kinetic, Australia and New Zealand’s largest bus operator
and multi-modal transit leader, as a new member.
Kinetic joins Transport Australia’s membership of operators, contractors, consultants,
suppliers, transport agencies and technology providers whose expertise is central to the
association’s policy and advocacy leadership.
Transport Australia is the national peak body for an integrated transport system, connecting
the people who deliver and operate transport networks with those providing the services
that rely on them.
Transport Australia Chair Aneetha de Silva said Kinetic’s membership added an important
operational perspective to Transport Australia’s broader national remit.
“We are delighted to welcome Kinetic to Transport Australia,” Ms de Silva said. “As a leading
multi-modal mass transit operator, Kinetic brings deep operational experience to the
conversations our members are having about the future of transport.
“An integrated system requires us to understand how decisions in one part of the network
affect another. Bringing operators, infrastructure leaders and government together helps us
see those connections more clearly and make better decisions.
“Our strength lies in the experience our members contribute and their willingness to work
together. Kinetic’s membership builds on that foundation and adds an important perspective
from the people responsible for delivering services every day.”
Transport Australia CEO Ehssan Veiszadeh said Kinetic’s membership would help translate
Transport Australia’s broader remit into practical collaboration.
“Transport Australia champions an integrated and sustainable transport system as the
enabler for a prosperous Australia. Kinetic brings another important source of operational
insight to support that mission,” Mr Veiszadeh said.
“Kinetic understands what it takes to keep services moving every day for passengers,
employees and the communities they serve. That experience can help connect infrastructure
and policy discussions with the realities of running the network.
Kinetic Group CEO Michael Sewards said joining Transport Australia reflected the
importance of connecting operations, infrastructure and policy.
“Kinetic is proud to be a member of Transport Australia and support the ongoing and
sustainable development of the transport industry,” said Mr Sewards.
“As we explore opportunities to expand our operational expertise into new transport modes,
including rail, being part of the national peak transport body and leveraging its insights is
important to this progression.
“In our role as the largest bus operator in Australia and New Zealand, we have a
responsibility to lead the transition to zero-emission buses, which we undertake with great
enthusiasm and commitment across all our networks.
“We will bring this experience and our learnings as majority owner of Go-Ahead Group, a
leading operator of bus and rail services in the UK, parts of Europe and Singapore, to our
engagement with Transport Australia.”
