EastLink upgrades street lights to LED

EastLink has progressively replaced existing High Pressure Sodium (HPS) luminaires with new LED luminaries along the length of EastLink, including the ramps at the EastLink – Monash Fwy interchange and on the Ringwood Bypass.

After six months of progressive work 1,424 new LED lights were installed, using 38 per cent less electric power while improving safety for road users and enhancing the quality of CCTV imagery in the EastLink control room.

This project follows on from an earlier project in 2021, in which EastLink’s tunnel lighting was upgraded to LED technology. The earlier tunnel project involved 1,174 new LED lights being installed.
