TA Fellowship Program
The Transport Australia Fellowship Program is a prestigious program designed to develop the next generation of leaders in the Australian transport and infrastructure sector.
The program offers a unique opportunity for a select group of future leaders to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professional networks through a structured series of activities and mentoring by industry leaders.
Participation in the Fellowship Program is merit-based and applicants are required to provide a letter of recommendation from their sponsoring TA member organisation.

HOW IT WORKS
How it works
- The Fellowship Program is a national mentoring program that pairs industry leaders (Mentors) with managers of 8 to 15 years’ experience who exhibit strong leadership potential (Fellows)
- Each Fellow is matched with a Mentor in their home state
- Participants meet frequently over the course of the year, with Mentors providing one-on-one career counselling and leadership development
- Fellowship opportunities are exclusive to staff employed by member organisations of TA
- The Fellowship Program is not an academic fellowship
Gender diversity
TA recognises the need for gender equality across the industry. Gender diversity will be reflected in the selection process.
Who is involved?
- The Program enjoys the support of some of the most respected leaders in our industry.
- It is chaired by Verity Turner, Transurban Environment and Planning Director and she is supported by the Future Leaders Committee.
- Confirmed mentors include current and former chief executives of road agencies and major private sector infrastructure companies and senior government leaders.
The Program – minimum commitment
- The Program runs for 12 months with a new Fellows intake each November.
- Successful applicants commence the Program with a two-day induction workshop and annual fellows dinner.
- On-going monthly (1-2 hour) mentoring sessions.
- A two-day mid-year workshop includes a site visit and the announcement of the Group Policy Project.
- Project presentations and fellows annual end of year dinner.
The objective of the RA Fellowship is to develop the future leaders of our industry. The 2025 research topic was “Road Safety“. The 2025 cohort presented their projects at the end of year Fellows workshop in November, which was also attended by the 2026 Fellows.
