Hear from Neil Stephens, CEO, Port of Brisbane, as he outlines the transport and infrastructure priorities shaping one of Australia’s most critical freight gateways. Expect insights on Queensland’s freight future, port-led innovation, and the strategic opportunities shaping the state’s economic growth.

Following his address, Neil will join a panel discussion with Sally Stannard, Director‑General, Department of Transport and Main Roads, for a deeper exploration of Queensland’s transport priorities, cross‑modal integration, and the opportunities ahead for industry and government collaboration.

Keynote Speaker:

Neil Stephens: CEO, Port of Brisbane

Neil was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Port of Brisbane in March 2022, after acting as Interim CEO since July 2021. He joined the Port of Brisbane as Chief Financial Officer in mid-2020 overseeing all finance, funding, financial reporting, treasury and tax activities.

Prior to joining the Port, Neil was Business Development Director at Cardno plc, spent 8 years as the Chief Financial Officer then the Chief Operating Officer of Springfield City Group, and 2 years advising a variety of companies on funding, structuring, acquisitions, property and overall strategy.

Neil qualified with KPMG in the UK, before working in executive positions including Business Development and M&A Director at British Telecom, Commercial and Venturing Director at Reuters and Chief Financial Officer at two technology start up companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics and a Masters in Finance and Accountancy.

Sally Stannard: Director-General, Department of Transport and Main Roads

As Director-General, Sally Stannard leads the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). Sally was Acting Director-General from 5 June 2023 and formally appointed in December 2023, taking on the leadership of TMR’s portfolio of work across road, rail, bus, cycling and marine infrastructure in Queensland.
