Transport Australia’s Emerging Leaders Breakfast brings early-career transport and infrastructure professionals together to build connections and learn from industry leaders.

Queensland has an ambitious infrastructure pipeline but turning that ambition into successful delivery requires strong technical judgement, commercial awareness and collaboration.

This conversation will explore the realities between project planning and delivery on the ground, including procurement, risk allocation, constructability, workforce capability, staging and decision-making under pressure. Attendees will hear practical lessons from the delivery frontline and gain a clearer understanding of how different roles contribute to successful project outcomes.

Alex Borg, Principal | Roads & Streets – APAC Leader, Arup

Alex brings over 25 years of experience in the Transport sector, with a particular focus on the roads market. During his career at Arup, Alex has held a range of senior leadership roles spanning project leadership, business and market leadership, as well as Global Skills Leader for the Roads business.  In his current role, Alex leads Arup’s Roads & Streets business across Asia Pacific, working across a diverse range of markets, clients, project types, and delivery models.  He also maintains close connections with major projects and pursues opportunities as Project and Bid Director across Australia and New Zealand.

Ryan Jones, Project Manager, CPB Contractors

Ryan brings 18 years of experience delivering major transport infrastructure across Queensland with roles spanning the planning, development, and delivery of complex road and rail projects. Currently a project manager with CPB Contractors, Ryan has built his career on integrating constructability, procurement, cost, risk, and program on projects such as Airport Link, Moreton Bay Rail, and Cross River Rail. Ryan’s current focus is on project development, pre-contracts, and tendering working as a Bid Manager on the pipeline of upcoming major projects.
